OVERVIEW: A lightweight flywheel is a great addition to any car, especially turbocharged vehicles. A lighter flywheel drastically reduces the rotating mass attached to your crankshaft, allowing your car to rev and accelerate faster. Turbocharged cars will benefit from a quicker spool as well.
WARNING: Performance flywheels for the 02-05 WRX vary depending on build date. Your build date can be found on the information plate located in your drivers side door jamb. Please note that the proper flywheel application can not be determined from your model year alone, it is necessary to check the build date to be certain. JSC Speed will not accept returns or exchanges on flywheels based on customer error; so please check before you order.

STEEL VS ALUMINUM: There are a variety of flywheel styles and weights available for the 02-05 WRX. You may want to consider the ACT Streetlite steel flywheel for daily driven and street cars, as it is lighter, but not so light as be awkward to drive on a daily basis. Some people find extremely light flywheels uncomfortable for daily driven applications. Please call and talk to a sales representative for more information. |

The Fidanza WRX flywheel is SFI Certified, and now weighs 12.5 pounds, resulting in no check engine lights or misfire codes.

ACT StreetLite Steel Flywheel: |
The ACT Streetlite flywheel is made from premium quality forged Chrome-Moly steel, CNC machined, and balanced. It also features an induction-hardened integral ring gear, and is durable and thick enough to be resurfaced. Certified to SFI Specification 1.1.

Spec Aluminum Flywheel: |
| SPEC aluminum flywheels are CNC machined and exceed SFI standards for high stress racing applications. These units are recommended for highly modified street or racing vehicles, and for mildly modified street cars that can benefit from reduced rotating mass without the loss of daily drivability. The body of the flywheel is made of tempered aluminums, either 6061 T6 or 2024 T3, for ultimate strength and lightest possible weight. |
The 1/4 inch thick friction plate is a 1050 high carbon alloy, for incredible durability with any friction disc material, even iron. The plates are secured to the body by aerospace fasteners. The ring gears are pressed on and secured with grade 10 fasteners. They gear is also heat treated for added durability and longevity.
