The Clutch Masters "Big Boy" is a package from Clutch Masters designed to squeeze optimal performance and engagement out of your 2002-2005 WRX without overstraining the fragile OEM transmission, all while offering smooth engagement and only slightly stiffer pedal feel. What's the secret? a 242mm (9.5") clutch housing coupled with a specially designed 9.5LB aluminum flywheel, as well as a 2600lb capacity pressure plate (for basis of comparison, the stock pressure is around 1500 lbs, and most traditional aftermarket clutch kits are about 2000 lbs.). The increased surface area (9.5" as opposed to the stock 9") improves the clutch disc's performance while still offering a great street and daily drivability, and in many cases, increased disc life.

"Big Boy" FX100: |
Kit includes a heavy duty pressure plate (2600lb of clamp) and steel-backed organic lined disc, featuring smooth engagement. This assembly is designed to provide extended life and superior holding power for cars with moderate power upgrades and/or more enthusiastic driving in extreme conditions. Most organic discs provided in Clutch Masters' assemblies include steel-backed lining to enhance the structural integrity of the material which is complemented by the highest quality hub assemblies available to ensure durability and drivability. This kit is highly recommended for the 2002-2005 WRX, as it won't strain the transmission. Less strain allows the driver to 'slip' the clutch, and can handle more power due to increased surface area and the 2600lb pressure plate.

This kit features a heavy duty pressure plate and segmented Kevlar disc for exceptional holding power & long life. Firm, positive pedal feel. The perfect clutch for aggressive drivers that still desire smooth engagement. This clutch will be a little grabbier than the FX100, with increased holding power with improved life due to the segmented Kevlar disc.
Torque Capacity: 450-475 ft/lbs.
Kevlar clutch discs require a strict 500-750 mile break-in period. See manufacturer's literature or call for more information.

This kit features a heavy duty pressure plate, a 4-puck ceramic sprung disc for quick engagement and tremendous holding power. Be warned that this kit will yield harsh, aggressive clutch engagement. The FX400 application is meant for heavily modified 02-05 WRXs that only see limited street driving and have upgraded gear sets. This kit is the perfect choice for the road-racing or time attack competition WRX tuners.
