| For looks and sound, some manufacturers such as Blitz and Turbo XS, offer rear mufflers that attach to the WRX or STi factory midpipe. There is no performance benefit to these, but they are often simple and cheap alternatives to cat-back exhausts for those who just want looks and a little more sound. |

NOTES:
1. In order to make a catback you would need to purchase a midpipe, which are few and far between, making this not such a viable option if you plan to upgrade in the future.
2. Almost all rear mufflers downsize to 2.5" piping for the stock midpipe; this will restrict flow if you go to a 3" midpipe in the future.
3. If you do go this route, the best upgrade path is the Turbo XS stealth-back exhaust, which includes everything from the turboback, except the rear muffler. |
