| Perrin Boost Tube, Perrin BOV, and AGP Block Off Plate: It's difficult to turn the boost up on a car with an electronically controlled factory blow-off valve; as soon as you start getting somewhere, you're rewarded with a "whoosh," and there goes the boost. So what's the remedy? Remove the OEM BOV, cap it off with an AGP block-off plate, and install an upper pressure pipe (AKA boost tube) with provisions for an aftermarket blow-off valve for the ability to hold boost.

Click here for a sound clip of the Perrin BOV! The pictures above definately do not do justice to these two products. The AGP BOP installs quickly and easily, provided you can manuever in between the engine and battery and get the stock blow-off valve off. The Perrin Boost tube simply requires removal of the stock intercooler to throttle body pipe and it is a direct replacement. The sensors from the OEM pipe mount directly into the Perrin piece, as does the red vacuum line for the TIP sensor (03-04 cars can remove this to eliminate part-throttle boost check-engine lights). Then remove the plug in the boost tube, slip the Perrin BOV into it, and hook up the vacuum lines and you're up and running! For a pressure source, tee into the vacuum port on the throttle body closest to the engine and driver side.
NOTE: Buy a catch can. When you take the stock pipe off, you will see that it is full of oil; the SRT-4 dumps alot of oil into the intercooler and piping, stock and aftermarket pieces will blow-off under boost with this oil in there, so do yourself a favor and get one; even one of those $20 home-made deals. |
