JSC Speed's 2007 R56 Mini Cooper S Turbo Project Car

	Alta R56 Mini Cooper S Intake System Installation: The Alta Mini Performance R56 Cooper S intake is very straightforward product to install, and requires zero modification to the vehicle. I like the system because it reuses the stock fresh-air duct, and also draws cold air through the hood (the instructions demonstrate how to remove the plug in your Cooper S' scoop). All in all, my Cooper S pulls much harder with the Alta Mini Performance intake, and you can hear both the turbo and stock diverter valve much more clearly. I haven't dynoed this setup yet, but the R56 feels much stronger.

	Defi Boost Gauge & Link Unit Installation: I can't believe the R56 Cooper S doesn't have a boost gauge from the factory. So I decided to install the Defi Link Series Imperial Boost Gauge, in white. Being impatient, I could not wait for the aftermarket to develop a gauge pod, so I took some measurements and found that the center ring on the air condition vents is about 53mm. That being said, a 52mm gauge slips right in there easily, and can be swiveled around for optimal viewing. The Defi Link Series gauges match the white face of the Mini's tachometer and speedometer very well, which is an added bonus. They don't illuminate in the same color, but I'll fix that at some point.

Alta R56 Turboback Exhaust Installation: The pictures of this install are MIA, unfortunately. Installation of this system is very straightforward, especially if you do the Alta catback exhaust & Alta downpipe downpipe at the same time. The exhaust and downpipe bolt together using Alta's V-Band system, and everything fits perfectly behind the stock heatshields (re-installing the heatshields is a tedious process, however). I did have to trim the steel support plate in the center of the car for additional clearance; it took 5 minutes w/ a dremel. Power Gains: 10whp / 3lb-ft.
