![]() After the addition of a vf-34 turbo, pink injectors, and a walbro fuel pump it was obvious that the stock top mount intercooler had to go. The car ran without any issues while using the stock TMIC but it didn't flow efficiently. Also, the increase in boost pressure while running the vf-34 turbo caused the stock bypass valve to leak under full boost, about 18psi. So it was time to get some better components on the car to resolve these issues. The TurboXS Top Mount Intercooler was chosen because of its massive size (19"x8"x4.5") and ease of installation. The TurboXS TMIC includes a y-pipe, t-bolt clamps, mounting brackets, oil line, and t-fitting needed for installation. As with all aftermarket top mount intercoolers the cast elbows and gaskets on the stock unit must be reused. The TurboXS TMIC installed very easily due to the mounting brackets included in the kit. The APS Dual Vent Blow Off Valve was chosen due to its ability to recalculate in low boost conditions and vent to atmosphere when in high boost conditions. The APS BOV comes with mounting bolts, a gasket, and has a mounting flange built into the unit that is designed to mount any intercooler set up utilizing the stock type flange. The unit can be adjusted to open under the correct pressure change using simple hand tools. It took a few short drives to get the valve adjusted properly. Both units are simple bolt on installs! After these units were installed the turbo response was improved dramatically. The increase in flow of the TurboXS TMIC stresses the turbo much less the the stock TMIC. This results in more power especially in the upper rpm band. The APS BOV cured the boost leak issue that was occurring with the stock bypass valve. Great success! |
