While the transmission was out for the car for a rebuild it made sense to get a new clutch and flywheel combo in the car. Since this car is a daily driver and needs to comfortable to drive in traffic situations so the ACT Performance Street Disc was chosen. Similarly, a daily driver friendly flywheel was needed to ensure ease of use during normal driving conditions so the ACT StreetLite steel flywheel was chosen. Choosing a clutch & flywheel is about balance between performance and drivability. Careful consideration was taken to ensure the correct clutch was chosen to mach the driving style the car is use for. Installing both the clutch and flywheel were easy and problem free. All necessary parts were included with the clutch such as the pilot bearing, throw out bearing, clutch disc, and pressure plate. The OEM bolts were reused and were secured with permanent loctite. It is very important to ensure the clutch and flywheel are securely installed and torqued correctly. The flywheel and clutch could actually crash through the bell housing and cause injury due to improper installation. After installation of both the ACT clutch and flywheel a dramatic improvement was noticed. The engine climbs the rpm band much faster and more power gets to the wheels due to the reduced flywheel weight. A slight improvement in gas mileage was another benefit of the light weight flywheel. The ACT StreetLite flywheel is great because it weighs about 8.5lbs less then the stock unit but still retains enough weight for drivability. The ACT Performance Street Disc gabs harder then the OEM unit with a little increase in pedal effort. The disc is full faced unit made of organic material which does not require a break-in period and holds more power then stock. The ACT StreetLite Flywheel & Performance Street Disc is a great upgrade for a daily driver. |
