| Alta Performance's lightened crank pulley for the Mini Cooper is engineered to increase power by reducing rotating mass. Made from 6061T6 aluminum and weighing in at .9 lbs, the Alta Pulley is more than 6.2 lbs lighter than the stock crank pulley. The standard Alta pulley is not under driven; it is a redesigned, lighter rendering of the stock crank pulley that achieves power and performance by reducing the rotating mass of the crank assembly. This reduction is effectively the same as removing 100 pounds of weight from your vehicle. The Alta pulley will not wear out engine bearings or the oil pump, and will not add any additional vibration or noise. |
Overdriving:
Alta also offers overdriven crank pulleys to increase your boost levels, while simultaneously freeing up power at the crankshaft. Alta's 2% & 3% pulleys will artificially change your supercharger size by 2%& 3% too! Purchasing an overdriven crank pulley will increase your boost levels, i.e. If you have a 15% pulley on your Mini, you can add the 2% overdriven crank pulley and have the equivalent of a 17% pulley. These pulleys will fit the Cooper and Cooper S; we don't, however, recommend using an overdriven pulley on a non-supercharged car.
