The annual SEMA (Specialty Equipment Manufacturer Association) auto convention never fails to showcase the newest and most exciting automobiles and the cutting edge in new products and accessories. As expected, SEMA 2007 has proven to be no exception to this trend. The JSC Speed team was there to experience SEMA 2007 from October 29th through November 2nd at the Las Vegas Convention Center, and we are very excited about the upcoming generation of performance cars and innovative new parts. New cars like the BMW 335i, Infinity G37, Mini Cooper S R56, Dodge Caliber SRT-4 and the redesigned 2008 Subaru WRX stole the show in the import performance market, and promise to be big contenders in the tuning scene for 2008. Weather you are into all ‘show’ or all ‘go’, there was something at SEMA 2007 for everyone.
While the WRX has had mixed reviews on its 08 makeover, nobody can argue that this car will remain one of the top tuner favorites in the coming year. While I have to admit I was a little disappointed with how few WRXs I saw at SEMA this year, it is very exciting to see the new ideas and products that will be hitting the market for this platform. JSC Speed will be stocking 08 WRX parts as soon as they are available, so stay tuned.

The BMW 335i had a very impressive showing at SEMA 2007, my favorite being the red and black themed Hotchkis example, wearing a carbon fiber front lip and custom red BMW badges. Definitely keep your eye out for these twin turbocharged beasts as the aftermarket support grows.

The new Mini R56 is getting tons of attention. As more evidence suggests that these little monsters are underrated from the factory, expect to see more of these little rockets making big power. SEMA had a number of R56 Mini’s on display, including the Hankook R56 complete with orange rubber.

Yes, the SRT-4 is back in the form of a pimped out Dodge Caliber. The Dodge/Mopar booth showed off their new front wheel drive rocket, boasting 285hp and 265lb-ft of torque out of the box. With factory Mopar performance parts already available, you can be sure that the aftermarket is going to explode for this car as it did for the Neon SRT-4. It looks like lawyers over at Dodge are going to have an hard time explaining that SRT still stands for Street AND Racing Team.

SEMA 2007 brought us some great new products, new cars, and gave manufacturers and chance to show off their most highly modified and tricked out project cars. I think I speak for all of us here at JSC Speed when I say that I am already looking forward to SEMA 2008-- Hopefully we will get a glimpse of the Mitsubishi Evo X, the 2009 Subaru WRX STi, Mitsubishi's rumored AWD turbo Lancer 'WRX killer', and of course 2009 Nissan GTR.
