| 2003 Philadelphia Auto Show
|
| I got a chance to take off and head to the 2003 Philadelphia International Auto Show. The show was missing some faces like the Mazda RX8, Pontiac GTO, and the Viper concept car (was there last year). The cars in attendance like the new Mitsubishi Lancer, Rally WRX, 350z, new Hummer, and the BMW's Mini S made the trip worth wild. A slew of concept cars also arrived, some far out there but others were close enough to production to raise eyebrows.

| With the New Nissan 350z out for a while now there is not much that everyone does not know already: 287hp, rear wheel drive, two-seater with LSD. So I got a picture of the engine for those of you who have not gotten a chance to see this beast in person yet. The Mini Cooper arrived at the show wearing a checkered roof, more importantly the mini Cooper S was there and I snapped a picture of the supercharged engine for you. I also got a picture of the Mini's throw back interior which features a speedometer in the center of the dash. Then I went off to Porsche to drool over the 911 Turbo and Targa and snap some pictures. The new Civic Si sported its new 2.0L engine and funky but fun shifter (mounted on the center consol). |

| Cadillac and Lexus had their new age concept cars there as well. The Lexus is the red one that is really extreme. No plans for either of these cars. The Bat mobile also made the show, the rear wheels had rims around 12" in diameter with 35" tires, big car really big car. Buick brought back an old convertible that was restored nicely but the concept / non-production car that caused the most stir was the Chrysler Crossfire. I talked to one of Chrysler's representatives at the show and they claim that it will be in production as early as the fall. If you are looking for the picture it is next to the bat mobile. Ford's concept Thunderbird with a soft top, pop locks, chromed 20's, and a deep red paint job also came out to play. The concept car from Jeep (light green) gathered a crowd for most of the show, along with the new Hummer which is now more modestly priced at 55k, maybe now people will buy them. |

| I managed to get pictures of the 2003 model Escalade, Extreme, ZO6, Monte Carlo, and Pontiac GTX along with some engine pictures for all the American car fans. Classy cars like the NSX, Ferraris, and Lamborghinis sat in the shows exotic section along with some Aston martins and Bentleys. The new Z4 was showcased in BMW's area; the lines on the car seem to diminish what the Z3's once had in my eyes. Ferrari and Ford brought race cars to the show while Hyundai brought a hooked up Tiburon with a SICK paint job, beautiful car. |

| Mazda Speed brought its new garret turbo charged entry level sports car to the show, I managed to get a picture of the engine for those interested, while it is front wheel drive and only around 170hp turbos are always fun and have lots of potential. The S2000, Matrix, and Celica had there unchanged 2003 models in the show but with all the new sports cars in the works these weren't getting enough attention so I snapped some pictures of them. |

| Finally I went to see the Rally WRX and the new Mitsubishi Lancer. All I have to say is the war is about to begin and JSC Speed plans to be right in the middle of it. We will definitely be carrying more and more WRX parts and we will also support the Lancer aftermarket and go full bore into Lancer parts. The STi at the show was all tricked out with a huge front mount intercooler; front mounts come stock on the Lancer. Both are all wheel drive and are competing in the same market, I hope they can survive together. |
