87-92 Toyota Supra Non-Turbo ACT Clutch Kits

Overview

ACT offers many varieties of clutch kits for the 87-92 Toyota Supra that provide increasing levels of performance enhancement. Each level of ACT clutch has its purpose. If you are not sure which ACT clutch is right for you, we can recommend an ACT package for your 87-92 Toyota Supra based on the level of modification and purpose of the car. All ACT clutch kits for the 87-92 Toyota Supra include your selected friction surface and pressure plate, plus an OEM release bearing, and an alignment tool.


Performance Street Clutch Kits

ACT's Modified Street friction surface is SFI certified and is an excellent choice for modified, street driven cars. The MM disc provides quicker engagement than a stock surface and is quiet compared to other, more aggressive friction surfaces. The MM disk is available coupled to the Heavy Duty pressure plate for a 32% increase in clamp load, or the Xtreme pressure plate which increases the clamp load by 62%. ACT's Performance Street disk uses a sprung hub with bushings and cone springs similar to OEM clutch discs; creating frictional dampening that improves clutch life and reduces noise. The MM kit is suggested as a stock replacement or for light to moderately modified 87-92 Toyota Supra.

6-Puck Clutch Kits

ACT's SFI certified 6-Puck Race Clutch friction surfaces were designed with modified, track driven cars as the target application. ACT offers a sprung 6-puck disc (G6) and a solid 6-puck disc (R6). The ACT G6 race disc has a very durable friction surface with good spline life. The G6 was designed for the highly modified car that is driven to, on, and from the track (as long as harsher engagement is acceptable). The sprung hub helps to reduce driveline shock and is relatively quiet compared to the unsprung, R6, though the G6 is still noisier than a full face disc and will have some chatter.

The reduced inertia of the ACT R6 allows for very fast shifts at the expense drivability. An ACT R6 race disc friction surface has very good durability but will have shortened spline life compared to the G6. The R6 is intended for use on highly modified track cars where harsher engagement is expected and some clutch chatter is not a problem. The 6-puck layout of the R6 will absorb, and dissipate more heat than a 4-puck unit.

Both the G6 and the R6 are available coupled to the Heavy Duty pressure plate for a 32% increase in clamp load, or the Xtreme pressure plate which increases the clamp load by 62%. The HDG6 is the most streetable 6-Puck combination while the XTR6 is the least streetable and only recommended for track applications.

4-Puck Clutch Kits

ACT's SFI certified 4-Puck Race Clutch friction surfaces were designed for highly modified, track driven cars. ACT offers a sprung 4-puck disc (G4) and a solid 4-puck disc (R4). The ACT G4 has very harsh engagement and is designed for road race cars only. ACT's G4 friction surface has good durability and spline life characteristics under normal use. The sprung hub helps to reduce driveline shock and be relatively quiet compared to an unsprung hub but will definitely have chatter.

The biggest benefit of the ACT 4-Puck Solid Hub Race Disc is it enables extremely fast shifts thanks, in part, to its reduced inertia. An ACT R4 race disc friction surface has good durability but will have shortened spline life. ACT designed the R4 for a heavily modified drag race or road race cars where extremely harsh engagement and clutch chatter is expected.

Both the G4 and the R4 are available coupled to the Heavy Duty pressure plate for a 32% increase in clamp load, or the Xtreme pressure plate which increases the clamp load by 62%. The HDG4 is the most streetable 4-Puck combination (but not suggested for any vehicle that is daily driven) while the XTR4 is not streetable and only recommended for track applications.
