There's not much to write about the FP Red Turbo for the 02-07 WRX & STI, as Forced Performance has kept most of the information on this turbo top secret. The FP Red is a proprietary journal bearing Mitsubishi/Garret hybrid, capable of compressing over 950cfm (65lbs/min). Each FP Red turbo ships with an internal wastegate and a 14psi wastegate actuator, as well as a standard 8cm exhaust housing. All of these specifications culminate into a massive stock location turbocharger capable of surpassing the 500whp mark on your WRX or STI. However, gobs of power does come at a price: lag. The FP Red is a significantly laggy turbo being as it is still a traditional journal bearing design, even on the larger 2.5L Subaru motors. Although the FP Red has OEM-type Subaru flanging, this is not a simple bolt-on and go turbo -- the 3" compressor inlet requires a 3” sized inlet hose and removal of the tumbler generator valves for proper fitment. This is a serious turbocharger, for serious street and racing applications only - we strongly suggest giving this a lot of thought before pulling the trigger on this one. The Forced Performance Red has been known put down 510 lb-ft of torque at 4900 rpm and 521hp at 6700 rpm when tuned on race fuel.
