Red Line's popular gear oil, this is the preferred product in nearly all car and light truck differentials, both conventional and limited-slip. 75W90 is preferred for most racing applications. It contains friction modifier which is recommended for limited-slip units. 75W90 Gear Oil can be used in many transmissions and transaxles; however, other Red Line lubricants have better frictional properties for rapid synchronization. This gear oil (SAE 5W30/10W30 engine oil viscosity) is designed for use in manual transmissions and transaxles. MTL is a low 70W at very low temperatures and a high 80W, nearly an 85W, at elevated temperatures, providing adequate viscosity to prevent wear and deaden gear noise. This 75W85 GL-4 gear oil is designed to fill the viscosity gap between MTL and MT-90. MT-85 provides superior gear and synchronizer protection, while its balanced slipperiness provides an improved coefficient of friction for easier shifting over a range of temperatures. This product is safe for brass synchros, as it lacks the damaging, reactive sulfurs found in most GL-5 oils. MT-85 satisfies the gear oil viscosity requirements of 75W and 85W as well as SAE 30 and 5W30 motor oil viscosities. Red Line Oil's MT-90 is designed to provide excellent protection and improved shiftability for manual transmissions and transaxles, having cured the problem of hard shifting in thousands of transmissions with shifting troubles. How? They have the appropriate coefficient of friction for most manual transmission synchronizers (many gear oils, engine oils, and ATFs are too slippery for proper synchro engagement). The wide viscosity of MT-90 allows proper shifting over the entire temperature range which the transmission will experience. Popular in Nissan, Toyota and Mazda manual transmissions and transaxles as well as other selected applications, this is a 75W90 GL-4 gear oil that's slightly heavier than MTL.
