03-06 Mitsubishi Evolution 8 & 9 Forced Performance Black Turbocharger

Have an 03-06 Evo 8 or 9? Like torque? How about horsepower? We're not talking a measly 450ft/lbs or 500hp; we're talking about truly insane, make-you-pucker power. Like 642ft/lbs and 635hp. At the wheels. On a Mustang Dyno. Yea, of course you want that. The Forced Performance Black 82HTA can make that happen for you.
Keep in mind that the power FP made in that pull wasn't achieved on a stock block or simply by bolting on this monster blower. For a turbo with as much huff as the FP Black 82HTA can potentially deliver you might want a stroker kit (check out the Eagle 2.3L or Brian Crower 2.4L kits). You will definitely need massive injectors like the DeatschWerks 1600cc units and tuning. If you skip the stroker and stay with the stock 4G63 2.0L to power the FP Black 82HTA, know that your power output will be greatly reduced and there will be considerably more lag. The Black will still be an awesome turbo, but not 640/630 awesome.
Forced Performance's custom 84mm Flow Advancement Port compressor cover helps reduce huffing and surging sounds that are often reported with larger, stock format hybrids when lugging the engine at low RPM and high boost pressure but perhaps even more useful is the way it helps feed the splitter blades of the compressor wheel resulting in increased flow. This larger inlet also increases the volume of the intake air pipe and reduces vacuum at the inlet of the turbo. Additionally the volute of the cover is now exactly tailored to the HTA wheel's aero for the best performance possible. The FP Black with 84mm Flow Advancement Port requires the FP Intake Air Pipe or a 3" coupler.
All FP Evo Black turbochargers come with an 25psi HP wastegate actuator. Forced Performance's HP Evo Black wastegate actuator features a heavy duty spring and does not crack open until boost reaches 25psi. If you plan on running high boost with race gas or methanol injection, your Evo will benefit from the extra spring pressure the 25psi WGA will provide. Using the 25psi HP actuator will result in retaining more boost higher into the RPM range compared to the stock Evo 9 wastegate actuator's meager 11psi threshold. The HP actuator isn't going to offer much benefit on pump gas cars running 25-30psi, but it isn't going to hurt you either. Be also advised that boost cannot be set BELOW 25psi; if you are buying a Black 82HTA, this is probably not a concern for you--if it is, check out an FP Red or Green instead.
