The Ford Power Stroke made its debut in the 1994 model year with the 7.3L turbo diesel V8, outputting a maximum of 520ft/lbs of torque in engine equipped with an automatic transmission. The 7.3L Power Stroke was then updated midway through the 2003 model year with the revised 6.0L Power Stroke until 2008. Next in the lineage was the 6.4L Power Stroke offered as an optional engine in early 2007, offering a unique alternative as the 6.4L utilized a sequential dual turbo setup for increased responsiveness. In 2011 Ford unleashed their all new 6.7L Power Stroke diesel, originally rated at 735ft/lbs but was quickly revised to 800ft/lbs@1600rpm by Ford to achieve better torque output and better fuel mileage. Early 6.7L owners were able to upgrade to the higher output with a software reflash available at any Ford dealer.
